Laurem arrived in Scientiae to represent her family interests in the area, but when Laurem saw the opportunities for success, she married the previous High lord (who passed away on their wedding night despite being 24 and in excellent health for an elf) and usurped his position.
She owns and ruthlessly operates the High Lord's mining organization. She is rumored to use any means necessary to expand her organization and personal power. She immediately took personal control of the 2nd Scientiain legion, stationing it on the outskirts of the city to act as a supporting force to the 1st legion.

High Lady Scientiae Laurem[]
69 -Lady Laurem stands 5'9" tall and weighed 135 pounds. She has fine-boned features and wears elegant clothing made from costly fabrics in the latest styles. Her clothing and jewelry are decorated with symbols of the goddess Ceres. She is seldom seen in public but her appearances are always an event to the local populace. Her retinue consisted of a few legionnaires and at least one scribe to take notes.
Personality[]
A force to be reckoned with, Lady Laurem is the head of the oldest and wealthiest family in Scientiae and regards the entire city as her personal fief, but generally works to improve her city. She is philanthropic, sponsoring many civic projects, and she paid for and equipped units of the city's military and naval forces.
Background[]
The DeVillars family had lived in the Scientiae area for more than ten generations and had been devoted to the service of Waukeen, the goddess of trade and money. They had a large fortune and many business interests in the city, so Lady Laurem is represented, either directly or indirectly, in most of the city's guilds. Examples of her philanthropy were evident throughout the city in temples, sculpture, fountains, and public buildings. Her staff kept her informed of all events in Scientiae, she is dedicated to the safety and prosperity of her city, and she usually got her way. On the rare occasion she is displeased with city policy, she either remained silent or publicly endorsed the policy while working behind the scenes to change it.
Lady Laurem is the only member of the DeVillars family living permanently in Scientiae. Her two daughters, Bethany and Chantel, are students at the red tower in Draci. She wants them to become independent and successful without her wealth and position to aid them.
